We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Application Specialist to join our team, here in Kingston, ON. This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting hospitals, regional health authorities and ministries of health in leveraging our software solutions to improve the delivery of care.  
  
Purpose:  

As an Application Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless implementation, configuration, and optimization of our medical imaging and referral software applications. This role combines your knowledge of radiology department workflows with your experience and understanding of hospital software systems HIS (e.g., Oracle Health / Cerner, Meditech, etc.), radiology information systems (RIS) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS & DICOM), to help our clients improve operational efficiency and access to care.  
  
You will work closely with healthcare providers, internal teams, and technology partners to understand each client’s unique workflows and ensure that our solutions are fully integrated into their daily operations. Your work will directly impact the quality and accessibility of care for patients in Canada and beyond.  
  
Duties:
Implementation and Configuration
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to understand workflows, providing training and support to ensure seamless integration of new systems, enhancing both operational efficiency and patient care.  
  • Lead and support the implementation and deployment of medical imaging and other referral management solutions for new clients and existing clients undergoing upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions and minimizing disruptions.  
  • Apply change management strategies to guide stakeholders through system transitions, addressing any resistance and facilitating adoption of new technologies.  
  • Configure, test, and customize software applications to meet client-specific needs in diagnostic imaging and clinical areas, ensuring alignment with operational goals and workflows.  
  
Training and Documentation
  • Develop and deliver engaging training programs for healthcare professionals on medical imaging and other referral management solutions, focusing on system functionalities, workflow optimization, and best practices.  
  • Create and maintain comprehensive user documentation, troubleshooting guides, and FAQs to assist end-users with system usage and problem resolution.  
  
Medical Imaging Workflow Customization
  • Analyze clinical workflows related to imaging processes and design system configurations that streamline operations, improve patient care, and enhance efficiency.  
  • Work with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless integration of imaging software into daily operations.  
  
System Integration and Metadata Configuration
  • Configure metadata, data mapping, and data integrity standards to ensure accurate and efficient information exchange between systems (e.g., PACS, DICOM, RIS, HIS).  
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure smooth integration between our solutions and other healthcare systems (e.g., Oracle-Cerner, Meditech, etc.).  
  
Ongoing Support and Optimization
  • Provide ongoing support for clients post-implementation, troubleshooting system issues, and optimizing performance.  
  • Conduct regular assessments to identify areas for system enhancement or process improvements.  
  
Product Expertise and Continuous Learning
  • Develop and maintain in-depth expertise in our software products, ensuring you are a trusted resource for both internal teams and healthcare clients.  
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in medical imaging technologies and healthcare IT systems and provide insights for product improvements.

Education & Experience:  
  • Completion of a post-secondary program preferably in medical imaging, computer science, healthcare information management, health sciences or equivalent work experience.  (preferred) 
  • 2+ years of experience in medical imaging, or other hospital based clinical settings (e.g., perioperative, medicine, etc.).  (preferred) 
  • Experience with Oracle-Cerner, Meditech, or similar electronic medical record systems.  
  • Strong understanding of healthcare / hospital workflows, particularly in diagnostic imaging and / or other clinical departments.  
  
Working Conditions:   
  • Employee may sit for prolonged periods of time   
  • Prolonged periods of time viewing computer monitor and keyboarding   
  • Tight deadlines, with multiple and rapidly changing priorities   
  • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders   
  • Employee may be required to travel domestically and internationally (overnight) as required.   
  
Hours of Work:   
  • Workweeks are five days, Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, starting at 0800, 0830 or 0900, as agreed upon between the employee and their manager.   
  • Minimum hours of work each week is 40, unless otherwise agreed to between the employee and their manager.   
  • Employee may be required to work additional hours, including occasional weekends.
